Sometimes when I'm in Italy I go visit my old block where I grew up

I just like to sit on the bench and smoke a cigarette It's very important to never forget where you come from. I started from nothing and I managed to build a great life for myself, I should be proud of it With the money I make in a month I could buy 1 apartment in this block, every month That's something no one else achieved in my city. That's a good feeling When I lived here with my mother, I was embarrassed to bring friends home. We had cracks on the wall, the apartment stank because we had 3 big dogs pissing everywhere 😹 My friends were asking me "brooo why your mom never cleans the house", I was just so embarrassed of the way I was living, so I was staying in the street all day If you grew up in a place like this you're basically disabled I lost many years of my youth, wasting time in the streets with people who'd betray you for 5€ Imagine I grew up in Switzerland, learned English early in school, good welfare, money everywhere… I would have made way faster progress So when these high income countries people talk about "being broke"… it's just so funny and delusional lol But I believe everybody has its own path, even Tate wasn't super successful until like 28yo If you just work hard and smart eventually you're gonna make it, it's only a matter of time And be grateful of what you are born with, always There's always someone who had it worse than you
